New Things:
So, things look different around here since the last time you saw it doesn’t it? Yes we did a lot of changes around here, including wiping the database clean of all old data and members. Only the active members for now on will be able to be part of this community.
It took a lot of work, with such little precious time, but I got the forums back up as soon as I could. The decision was tough to wipe out the member database, but I think we made the right decision. Now we will be able to get down to business, and make these forums better than ever. There are some new things that will be coming up this year, and I don’t have the time or space to name them all yet. First we need a small active amount of members to get things kicked off, till we start doing the things we plan. So please take time, and join our community.

A Word from Playstation60:
Much like anyone else growing up the holiday season was always a magical time. The snow covering the ground in a blanket of white. The temperatures crisp, sometimes with more bite than others. What always captivated me was not the environmental conditions so much as the ambiance that was forever a signature of the holiday season.

Maybe it is the cynical nature that has taken a firm grip on me. It would seem as if the holidays have died. A few years back my family was rocked with the deaths of two very important members (as if any member is unimportant!) within the staggering time frame of only fifteen days. Even before their sudden departure my family had already begun the systematic destruction of every holiday tradition I grew up with. The passing of my relatives seemed to be the final toll of the bell. No more gatherings. With their deaths I went near to two years in seeing most of my family. The holidays lost their glow. The tinsel just a bit bland. But there was still life in the season.

This year took me by complete surprise. I cannot speak for any other place other than my tiny little speck of land I call home (Oshkosh, WI, known for only a few things, Oshkosh b’Gosh clothes, EAA, and the massive bar to person ratio). It is now near to the middle of January, and we have no snow. Not even the tiniest trace. The temperatures are so warm that Frosty would have never even bothered to come up for the season. Not once from the beginning of the holiday season all the way through the first of the year did it feel festive. Gone was just the warmth of the season. You could not find people being nice to each other because it is a part of the season, in it’s place you found indifference.

In my youth it was the presents. I would be a liar if I said otherwise. I liked the presents and the time off from school the most. As I’ve grown older I believe I have figured out the true meaning of this season; family. I could care less about the gifts, and the time away from a school I don’t attend. What I want, what I need is the family. The kindness from my fellow man.

Have we really come upon the death of the holidays?

The New Year:
Wow, a new year has come already, and UnknownWriters has come back up just in time! The question now is, what are you suppose to do with a new year? Just sit around and wait for things to happen? Nah, you have to make things happen, thats how this world works.
For the new year, everybody should start making a list of goals on pieces of writing you wish to be finished. Their shall be three different goals total, and should read as the following.

Short-Term:
something you wish to finish in the next 1-2 months

Medium-Term:
something you wish to get done in the next 4-8 months

Long-Term:
something you wish to get done in the next 1-2 years

Then all you have to do is mark the goals off as you finish them, and keep adding new ones on. It is a very simple process if you stick with it. You should be surprised in the work you will be able to get done in that time frame.

Notes from the Editor:
The newly launched UnknownWriters.net was a success, along with keeping the original staff. Now all we need to do is get some really active members in here that communicate with each-other rather than just post their pieces to be judged.
UnknownWriters was originally founded in January of 2005 by me, and has since then went through 3 versions, with this being the fourth. I will have to say I like the setup of this version better. I finally made a decent looking banner, and the style is just wonderful. I’m hoping the members like it too.
In closing, welcome to the site, and to the new Newsletter. Their will be a new newsletter at the end of every month, and they will be emailed to all members of the forum. So everyone, register, have fun, write alot!
